Formerly a top fashion model who was 5'10'' in height, Carey was a favorite with top American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father is a distinguished scientist who was named Scientist Of The Year 1979, at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey is a resident of all over the world due to his profession. In the years of her college, she began to model part-time and attracted the attention from Ford model Agency representatives in New York. Her move to France in the year 1980, and lived for a short time in Paris and Bordeaux before deciding to return to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career and was soon being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. As she modeled as she studied at a full-time level for a literary major in New York University. After graduation, in New York she began to pursue acting. Her acting debut was an appearance alongside Robin Williams in the 1986 film 'Club Paradise.
